Avoid The Unhappy And Unlucky

“You can die from someone else’s misery - emotional states are as infectious as diseases. You may feel you are helping the drowning man but you are only precipitating your own disaster. The unfortunate sometimes draw misfortune on themselves; they will also draw it on you. Associate with the happy and fortunate instead.”
There aren’t many life-changing choices you make - who you hang around with and call friends definitely is one of them.
I mean there is a reason that the quote “You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with” is so famous.
Some people drink daily, take drugs daily, and sleep 4 hours per night.
They just exist in their body like it is a casket.
On the other hand, you have people who find excuses for every area of their life:
I can't work out because of this…
I can’t stop smoking because of that…
I’ll start tomorrow…
I just have bad genetics…
If I was him…
Blaming other people and making up excuses because it is easier than taking action.
They are not happy.
They don’t want more in life.
Just imagine what happens if you hang around them for too long.
You don’t want to be with them.
You don’t want to be their friend.
Focus on you.
Build your:
Physical health with walking, healthy food, and working out
Mental health with reading, journaling, and meditating
Wealth with learning skills, solving pain points, and investing
You will socialize less in the beginning but that’s okay.
By spending more time with yourself, you realize more and more what you don’t want in life.
And even though finding what you want in life is quite hard (maybe even impossible), knowing what you don't want definitely helps.
After leveling yourself up in different areas, the people you have access to and the people who genuinely want to be with you change.
You now can be around people with ambition, drive, and motivation.
People who want to have an impact in the world and not “live their best life” by slaving away Mo-Fr and blackout on the weekend.
So, work and focus on yourself.
Question from time to time if the people around are the person you want to be and become.
And remember, if you don’t quit, you can’t lose.
